Miami (Ohio) vs. Arizona State

Welcome back to Packard Stadium where Miami (Ohio) and Arizona State are just underway in the second game of the DeMarini Invitational. The RedHawks have the luxury of opening the season against three Top 15 teams, something that will certainly help them along the way.
On the mound for Miami (Ohio), it's Chris Niro who was 3-3 in 12 outings in 2007, including four starts. The senior right is 6-foot-2, and finished with a 4.14 ERA a year ago. He's not a strikeout guy, with 24 K's in 37 innings, but he's gotta cut down on the walks, issuing 25 of them in '07.
As for ASU, it's ace Josh Satow who toes the rubber. The senior lefty isn't intimidating out there, only 5-foot-9 165 pounds, but Satow led the Sun Devils with a 2.76 ERA in 2007, while tying for the team lead with 13 wins.
The usual suspects are in the stacked ASU lineup, with a couple newcomers. Jason Kipnis leads things off, he's the transfer from Kentucky, he gets the start in centerfield while leading things off. The other newcomers, Marcel Champagnie at shortstop, a transfer from Kaskaskia JC, he'll play shortstop tonight. Jake Elmore is at 2B after coming in from Wallace State, while freshman Matt Newman takes a spot in rightfield.
Those are the newbies in a lineup that shows Brett Wallace playing 3B tonight and hitting cleanup, and Ike Davis is over at first, with Petey Paramore behind the plate.
Miami went quietly in the 1st, while ASU is threatening with a runner on 2nd after Jason Kipnis reached after a strikeout.
