Parking One

Rain still falling here in Tempe, as Parker Hanks has given Vanderbilt a 4-0 lead with the first home run of the ballgame. Hanks' solo shot over the leftfield wall somehow didn't hit a car on the busy road, the Rio Salado Parkway, after it cleared the secondary fence.
Hanks has had a good start to the season, going 2-for-2 so far with a single and the homer. He hit only .265 in a backup role last season. He hit three homeruns in 68 ABs in 2007.
Mike Minor continues to limit OSU, giving up just one hit through three innings as we enter the bottom of the 4th. The lefty has four K's.
I'd just like to mention some of the names that are retired here at ASU, in case you aren't familiar with their storied history. The retired numbers are up on a secondary fence that is supposed to block ding-dongs like Hanks'. But I'm sure some of these guys hit their fair share of bombs that landed in a front seat.
Bobby Winkles, Bob Horner, Sal Bando, Hubie Brooks, Alan Bannister, Alvin Davis, Kevin Romine, Paul LoDuca, Floyd Banniste, Eddie Bane, Barry Bonds, Jim Brock, Rick Monday and Reggie Jackson. Jeez.
