Wallace Gone Bombing

By Doug Kroll - February 23, 2008

For the first time in two days, the ASU crowd is really alive. Brett Jacobson is out of the game here in the bottom of the fourth with nobody out, and the bases loaded, and the great Brett Wallace is at the plate.

Well, Sean Bierman just surrendered a bomb of a grand slam off the bat of Wallace that landed in the bushes behind the rightfield fence. His first HR of the year, and he now has 5 RBI in the first two games. So much for Tim Corbin bringing in a lefty. Yikes.

Bottom of the fourth, ASU now leads 7-0 after a 3 spot in the third and a 4 spot here in the 4th.

The final line on Vandy starter Brett Jacobson:
3 IP, 6 ER, 4 BB, 5 Ks, 4 H

Bottom line on Jacobson, the first time through the order he was great. He had everyone off-balance and guessing. But after that, they caught on and were able to lay off those same pitches.
